Head in the Clouds
The mood I wanted entering the New Year.
Entering in on a specific kind of high. Now I’m not saying I’m trying to be completely inebriated through the year. More like relaxed, I have a tendency to let things effect and affect me and it’s hindersome to my development as a being of society.
But anyway back to the piece at hand. My homie Junior (dope artist, check him out) posted a test piece or a quick edit of some-sort and I stared at it for a minute. I’m sorry I can’t find the original photo, I have to hit him up for it, anyway, I sketched it out a couple of months ago and forgot about it as I was still trying to find myself as an artist.
This was way before I got comfortable with Gouache so I wasn’t looking at the piece as a whole yet. Fast forward up to the holiday season and my lessons in color theory have soaked in and I know what I want to do with the piece.
When I sat to create I moved the needed colors aside to set the mood for myself as I drew the piece over on a 9x12 illustration board. Once the piece was drawn I did a red/purple wash for the base. This is something I do a lot when working with skin tones.
Now the rest I can’t really explain as I get into my zone when creating and kind of space out lol. BUT luckily, I have a Timelapse video!
